InterAgency Council of Glen Cove Announces its Incorporation

Dr. Daniel J. Vogrin, president of InterAgency Council of Glen Cove (IAC) was pleased to announce the 48-member agency has taken the first step towards establishing its non-profit status by incorporating the organization. IAC was established in 1971 to improve the delivery of human services through cooperation, communication and coordination of community agencies. Through the years the council has met regularly to identify and address the changing needs of the community. This networking among community organizations has resulted in numerous projects and collaborations that continue to benefit the citizens of Glen Cove. By establishing IAC as a non-profit organization it is expected that the council’s ability will strengthen, therefore fostering additional funding opportunities, for the community as a whole, through grants and fundraising efforts.

A perfect example of the collaboration between agencies was illustrated in securing the IAC incorporation, thanks to the personal legal work by two well-known Glen Cove community volunteers. Martin and Lisa Pollack, both attorneys, took the IAC ball and ran with it, preparing all the necessary documentation for incorporation. After more than 30-years, thanks to the Pollacks, IAC is now InterAgency Council of Glen Cove, Ltd. Moreover, they did it pro-bono. The incorporation of IAC is the first step in securing non-profit 501© 3 status for the organization.

Both Martin and Lisa have been involved in the community for twelve years. They started their careers in Glen Head and today maintain a law office there specializing in real estate, personal injury, trusts and estates along with corporate law. They also maintain an office in Mineola with satellite offices in Brooklyn and Pearl River, New York. Lisa is a past executive vice president of the Congregation Tifereth Israel, and it was while she represented the congregation at monthly IAC meetings that IAC members came to know her. She is currently a member of the Board of Trustees, Board of Education and chairperson of The Wolpert Scholarship committee of the temple, a board member of “Splashes and Hope” a not-for-profit organizations that paints murals at locations caring for critically ill patients as well as third vice president of Melillo Center for Mental Health.

According Dr. Vogrin, “IAC members owe a debt of gratitude and admiration to the Pollacks for their pro-bono legal work on behalf of IAC, but also the Pollacks’ generosity in absorbing the expenses involved in IAC’s incorporation.” He went on to say, “There is no better example, than the Pollacks, of the type of progress that can be made when partnerships are created, cooperation and communication becomes the standard, then surely the beneficiaries will be the citizens of the Glen Cove community.”
