IAC Announces the Opening of a Website IACglencove.org

IAC Photo The IAC with 48 member agencies was established in 1971. The primary mission is to enhance the delivery of human services through collaboration and communication, and to provide mutual support among community agencies through sharing and networking. With this in mind, the idea for a website was soon given priority. Juan Castro, member-at-large for the IAC Board took the lead and researched the concept. Through networking within the agency, The Next Page, a local Glen Cove technology firm, owned by Ilona Berzups was contracted to create the website.

A helpful communications tool already existed in the 2-year-old IAC Directory of Services wherein listings outlining the services provided by all agency members could be found. This directory was received to rave revues by the community at large and no doubt the state-of-the-art website, now with an online directory searchable by service category and keyword, will provide even more information for the residents of Glen Cove and surrounding communities who find themselves in need of human services.

There are other features of the website that will also serve the community and IAC member agencies. Visitors will find a quick poll survey, free IAC mailing lists, a searchable Special Events directory, a cumulative history of IAC news releases, as well as donor and contact information. Of interest to member agencies is the growing list of pointers to nonprofit news, funding & grants, foundations, volunteer opportunities, plus State and Federal resources. Other communications of importance to the quality of life in the Glen Cove community will become available on the website.

Living in an environment where communication and access to human services has taken on an even more significant role since the tragedy of September 11, the website will add one more outlet for community residents to reach out for services that will provide assistance in procuring resources that are available to them. No citizen need fall between the cracks in the Glen Cove community.

Like all websites, www.IACglencove.org is a work in progress. Updates and newsworthy items will continually be made available and we encourage everyone to take a look by visiting www.IACglencove.org. Member agencies are encouraged to have a representative attend the monthly meetings.
