St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Hosts IAC Meeting
Today, he proudly informed the IAC membership of numerous community actions and involvement the parish has initiated under his guidance including the restoration of the beautiful church built in 1834. Twenty-five local community groups meet at the Church, the nursery school serves some 100 children of all faiths, and a music school provides the space for aspiring young musicians. There are also scholarships for the music program. Of particular interest was the information detailing St. Paul’s food and clothing program wherein their parish stocks the already existing food banks in the community, for example St. Rocco’s. The parish also provides 300 food baskets for the needy three times a year, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Dr. Vogrin thanked the Reverend Hutchings, congratulating him on the revitalization program that has taken place under his guidance. As a result of this information, St. Paul’s will be an additional resource to IAC members. Dr. Vogrin took the opportunity to remind the members that what had taken place at this meeting was the number one reason for the existence of IAC as an organization. To communicate and share vital information that will benefit the residents of Glen Cove. Fred Moore from the Glen Cove Section 8 Housing program spoke of a change in policy in the housing program that the membership should be aware off. Carol Sucharski reminded members of the Glen Cove Youth Board’s Summer Help program and encourages everyone to keep the program in mind. Continuing with announcements, the members were informed that three grants were in the process for IAC’s collaborative grant proposal initiative: AOL Time Warner Foundation, Glen Cove’s CDA program and a Glen Cove Youth Board grant. IAC with more than 40 member agencies was established in 1971. The primary mission is to enhance the delivery of human services through collaboration and communication, and to provide mutual support among community agencies through sharing and networking. Please visit our website at www.iacglencove.org for more information about services, events, and our member agencies. Member agencies are encouraged to have a representative attend the monthly meetings. The next meeting will take place on April 10, 2002, at 9 a.m. hosted by Sunrise Assisted Living.
