IAC Held First Meeting With New Officers

IAC Photo The September meeting of InterAgency Council of Glen Cove, Ltd, (IAC) was hosted by Juan Castro, IAC’s president at City Hall. Following his welcome to the membership, Castro covered a series of tentative Goals & Objectives for 2002-2003 including:

  • Complete Youth Needs Survey Evaluation
  • Complete the Not-for-profit registration process
  • Increase membership by 5%
  • Raise $X amount of Dollars
  • Add a community calendar function with IAC Website
  • Provide at least one special presentation at each monthly meeting
  • Review & revise IAC By-Laws
  • Receive three grants
  • Established Technology training session for IAC membership

In addition, Castro provided an update on membership privileges and outlined community services available to IAC members. (Anyone interesting in more information on IAC membership, should log-on to IAC’s website www.iacglencove.org).

Two speakers were slated and introduced by Castro. John Charon, City of Glen Cove Human Resources, provided information on the benefits and the process involved in seeking employment for the City of Glen Cove. Charon was following by Dr. Sharon Harris, executive director of GCCCASA, who provided an update on the diverse human services provided by GCCCASA to the citizens of Glen Cove.

The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 2, 2002, at 9 a.m. hosted by Glen Cove Senior Center, 130 Glen Street, Glen Cove. Featured speakers are: Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp will speak on Challenges & Opportunities for the City of Glen Cove, and Joy Leale, will speak on Adult Day Care Services.

IAC with more than 40 member agencies was established in 1971. The primary mission is to enhance the delivery of human services through collaboration and communication, and to provide mutual support among community agencies through sharing and networking. Member agencies are encouraged to have a representative attend the monthly meetings.
