| Juan Castro, president of IAC opened the November meeting by thanking hosts Dr. Ellenmorris Tiegerman, executive director and Toya Davis, the school’s IAC representative and Member-at-Large on IAC’s Board. Davis provided the IAC membership with an in-depth overview of the services provided by the school, which provides educational programming for infants, preschool and school age children with and without disabilities. Therapeutic services include: occupational, dance movement and language. In addition, adjustment counseling, nutrition, music and physical therapy and auditory training. A record attendance by IAC members was noted, some for the first time, and they were invited to introduce themselves to the membership.
Ilona Berzups of The Next Page was the meeting’s featured speaker. Ms. Berzups created and maintains IAC’s website. Her talk focused on the benefit to non-profit human services agencies in utilizing e-mail and the Internet to better serve their constituents. The content of workshops was explained and participants will gather information on “best practices” as they become more familiar with e-mail and the Internet. Thanks to a grant from CDA, a series of workshops geared to IAC members and their colleagues will have the opportunity sign up for workshops planned to start in January, 2003.
The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at 9 a.m. hosted by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. IAC with more than 40 member agencies was established in 1971. The primary mission is to enhance the delivery of human services through collaboration and communication, and to provide mutual support among community agencies through sharing and networking. Please visit our website at www.iacglencove.org for more information about services, events, and our member agencies. Member agencies are encouraged to have a representative attend the monthly meetings.
