The Interagency Council of Glen Cove had breakfast with Mayor Mary Ann Holzkamp at the Coles House recently. The Mayor brought the members of IAC up-to-date on the City of Glen Cove and answered questions from the members. Included in her informative presentation was the progress on-going in the many local development projects: The Avalon; The Waterfront, the revitalization of Leach Circle Park, which will be renamed Dennis Brian Murray Park after a young Glen Cove man who died in the Vietnam war. The Mayor also noted the expansion of the NSUH site and the benefits to the community from that growth.

The June meeting concludes the fiscal year for IAC, the umbrella organization representing 54 human service agencies in the Glen Cove community who meet monthly from September through June. The monthly meetings feature many public figures from the non-profit, social services, local and county government. In the past year, under the leadership of Juan Castro, president of IAC, and executive director of Glen Cove Youth Board, IAC’s membership has increased by 10% and attendance at the monthly meetings also increased.
