THE INTERAGENCY COUNCIL OF GLEN COVE, INC (IAC) had breakfast with NYS Senator Carl S. Marcellino hosted by the YMCA. The September meeting launches the New Year for IAC, the umbrella organization representing 54 human service agencies in the Glen Cove community who meet monthly from September through June. The monthly meetings feature many public figures from the field of non-profit, social services, local and county government. Following an informative overview by Jane Cacioppo, program/fitness director for the YMCA, on the diverse services the YMCA provides the community including: recreational and fitness programs for all ages, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness center, weight room, pre-school and after school child care, day camp, and a gymnasium and classrooms for special programs. Tip Henderson, chairman of the board for the YMCA, introduced the Senator who provided an update on the state of the state, followed by a question and answer period. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at 9 a.m. hosted by The City of Glen Cove. Guest Speakers include: Rosemary Olsen, executive director of Glen Cove Community Development and Fred Moore, executive director of Glen Cove Section 8 Housing. |
