City of Glen Cove Hosts IAC

Interagency Council of Glen Cove, Inc. IAC held its October 1, 2003 meeting at City Hall. Guest speakers included: Rosemary Olsen, executive director of Glen Cove Community Development Agency, CDA and Fred Moore, executive director of Glen Cove Section 8 Housing. Juan Castro, executive director of Glen Cove Youth Board and president of IAC also welcomed Mary Ann Holzkamp, Mayor of Glen Cove, who joined the meeting briefly to welcome everyone. Mayor Holzkamp took the opportunity to announce, after long negotiations, the Federal Government’s commitment of $27.5 million dollars to remove contaminated material from the Lie Tungston Corporation’s site.

Juan Castro introduced the speakers who provided an overview of their agency, and answered questions from the IAC membership.

IAC meets month from September to June. Representatives from its 54 member agencies meet to address issues that affect the citizens of Glen Cove and the surrounding communities as well as hear from community leaders, politicians and special guests. IAC membership is made up of all human service agencies in the City including: the City, School District, Chamber of Commerce and many more.

The next meeting will take place at City Court on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 9 a.m. the guest speaker: Judge Richard McCord.
