The InterAgency Council of Glen Cove, Ltd. (IAC) held its February 4, 2004 meeting at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. The president thanked Karen Stenzler, marketing coordinator, for The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation for hosting the meeting. Jill Smoller, administrator, for the Center was introduced to give an overview of the facility. It is a 154-bed facility specializing in nursing and rehabilitation. Four units make up the modern, very attractive facility and includes: Subacute Care Unit; Long Term Skilled Care Unit; Respite Care and Hospice/Palliative Care. Ms. Smoller explained that they are very proud of their nutrition and food program having two Culinary Institute graduates on their staff, and an in-house bakery. The Center was awarded the prestigious Optima Award for 2003 for the best food in a similar facility-nationwide.
The Reverend Wendler, North Shore Clergy, explained that the L.I. council of Churches have experts available through their speakers bureau, free of charge, who are available to assist agencies with a variety of subject matter including: Sr. Citizen's financial concerns, educate migrant workers who may be taken advantage when sending money to their home country, etc.
Michael Davidson of the GC Chamber of Commerce reminded the membership of the Annual Culinary event planned for April 16. Last year, the chamber donated $750 to IAC the proceeds from a raffle. He encouraged everyone to consider attending and selling raffles since the proceeds have again been earmarked for IAC.
