The InterAgency Council of Glen Cove, Ltd. (IAC) held its April 14 meeting at the First Presbyterian Church, hosted by the Reverend Betsy Simpson. The Reverend Simpson welcomed the IAC membership and spoke about the church’s centennial celebrations that are in the planning stages. The guest speaker, Michael Davidson, executive director of Glen Cove chamber of Commerce gave an informative presentation of the growth of the Chamber since he joined as the Chamber’s first full time executive director. He described the publication of the Glen Cove dining guide as a collaborative effort among restaurateurs and envisioned its potential to stimulate growth. The upcoming “Festival of Books” planned for Saturday, July 24, sponsored by the Chamber is being promoted Island-wide and Davidson is confident that it will attract a large audience. He is pleased to be collaborating with several IAC partners: GC Youth Board and La Fuerza, in a work training/apprenticeship program.
Dr. Susan Moor reminded everyone of the upcoming “Community Forum” on the PRIDE Survey planned for Monday, May 17, 7 to 10 p.m. GC Middle School. Laura Granelli, Esq. will speak on “Social Host Liability.” The public is encouraged to Attend. She also reminded the membership that the school budget would take place on Tuesday, May 18.
