The IAC of Glen Cove
The primary mission of the Glen Cove InterAgency Council is to enhance the delivery of human services through collaboration and communication, and to provide mutual support among community agencies through sharing and networking.
The InterAgency Council represents the cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity of Glen Cove. Social and human service issues and concerns are brought to the table and addressed.
Monthly meetings are held every second Wednesday of the month September through June at member agency settings. Locations and schedules are posted to this website.
The original concept for the IAC was developed under the auspices of the Community Hospital at Glen Cove in 1971 as part of a university based community service project. Twenty of the original agencies continue active participation. Through the years the council has met regularly to identify and address the changing needs of the community. This networking among community organizations has resulted in numerous projects and collaborations that continue to benefit the residents of Glen Cove.
The April 2010 IAC Meeting

On Wednesday, April 14, 2010 the InterAgency Council of Glen Cove held its monthly membership meeting at the Robert M. Finley Middle School. The meeting featured a guest appearance by Dr. Laurence Aronstein, Superintendent of Glen Cove Schools, who presented an overview of the proposed school budget.
Dr. Aronstein offered a warm welcome to the members of the IAC, a group he has enjoyed hosting each spring for the past few years. He took this opportunity, which would be his last before his retirement this June, to offer an explanation of the proposed budget for next year. The proposed budget to budget increase is 1.66%, and the resulting tax levy would be 3.84%. With a contingency tax levy of 2.06%, Dr. Aronstein voiced his concerns over a potential vote of “no” for the budget, as the potential of operating on a contingency budget would result in additional cuts to services such as new equipment, capital projects and athletics.
The members of the InterAgency Council, composed of community leaders representing a variety of human and social service agencies throughout Glen Cove, enjoy this opportunity to speak directly to the Superintendent over the budget, educational programs and extra-curricular services and programs offered through the school district. Dr. Aronstein welcomes a question and answer format that enables the members of the IAC to learn more about their particular areas of concentration or concern. Dr. Sharon Harris, President of the IAC, concluded the meeting with sincere thanks to Dr. Aronstein for his hospitality in hosting the InterAgency Council over the past years and wished him well in his future endeavors.
